Update on Cement Kiln News

It has been a week with a couple of different items. On the suit that BM Dorchester filed on the SOAH Judges, TCEQ, and the TCEQ Commisioner's, we were notified this week that the Judge dismissed the case. Commisioner Marr and I (Mayor Smith) attended the hearing in Austin back in June, I was impressed with the job the Attorney General's office did in defending and bringing the law and facts to the Judge. This was a good ruling for the city.
The seismic study was released Friday. In summary, it references that no two locations are the same and more studies are needed for a definite seperation distance (and could be location specific). The positive for us is this statement in the Grayson County study "Nonetheless, the consistency of the result across modeled scenarios supports a credible potential for quarry-scale blasting to exceed vibration levels associated with sensitive equipment". With the Technology Industry that has called Sherman home, and the many announcements lately of additional companies investing in the area for not only current, but future Technology research and development that would require the vibration levels to be maintained at current baseline is crucial for Texas to safeguard the industry and be included in growth in the Technology Industry.
