Word of Thanks from the Mayor
11/24/2024
Thanksgiving is upon us and it is a busy time of year! Please take some time to reflect and convey thanks to all who add to our community.
We are blessed to have a wonderful council that gives up personal time and utilize their knowledge for the betterment and best advancement of Dorchester! The ability to conduct business and investigate for the best interest for our community makes it a blessing as a mayor. Our city staff, along with our attorney, engineer, and professional development team also deserve special thanks for all they do. Just a reminder, that is not only for the time they give, but all have always been available during "normal" hours or "after" hours when needed. A thanks to Centurion American Development - Cottonwood for helping sponsor our Fall Social which was a wonderful experience.
On our continued fight against the cement kiln, we have an extended amount of assistance and help from our whole area. I was proud when Lt Governor Dan Patrick acknowledged how it was unusual for multiple cities and government entities to work together. This is what makes our county stronger as time goes by! All of our city group has been active in this fight along with assistance, help, or coordination from the following:
Centurion American Development - Cottonwood, Preston Bend - Rex Glendenning, GlobiTech, Don Godwin, Fannin Tree Farm, SEDCO - Kent Sharp & team, Sherman Mayors David Plyler and Shawn Teamann & team, Grayson County Judge Bruce Dawsey, Commisioner Jeff Whitmire and Commisioners Court, Roger Sanders and Team, surrounding cities that have conveyed their support, and all others that have had input, helped, or been support for me personally or the group(some wish to remain anonymous).
Blessings to everyone and thankfulness to our great community.
David Smith, Mayor
